Honor has once again proved that Samsung still has a lot to learn from it, at least in terms of foldable making, as the Magic V6 has welcomed nearly 5 incredible upgrades that even the most excellent Galaxy Z Fold 7 cannot upstage this time!
Last year, Honor unveiled Magic V5 as a significant iteration of the Magic V3. But at some points, it lost the “best foldable” match to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Though in 2026, Honor didn’t miss any chance to impress users and even the Galaxy Z Fold 7 owners with its Magic V6 foldable – all thanks to amazing upgrades.
Unlike Samsung, Honor has worked on three major aspects this time. Of course, battery and slimness are the key highlights of the Magic V6 and stole the MWC show. However, the showstopper was the ultimate crease control management.
And the other 5 upgrades where Samsung lost to Honor? Let’s explore both Magic V6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in this detailed folding smartphone comparison.
1. Slimness
Look is not a major highlight here as both Honor and Samsung make very subtle changes to their foldables’ appearance, while focusing on the major or integral parts.

But what’s worth praising is the slimness. While both brands had a huge showdown last year over foldable thinness, where Samsung surpassed with a small margin, Honor has flipped the game with an 8.75mm slim Magic V6 folding handset.
Notably, the Red, Black, and Gold Magic V6 variants measure 9mm. But the white color option is just 8.75mm when folded and 4mm when open. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a dimension of 8.9mm. This is the first win for Magic V6.
2. Screen Brightness
While Honor didn’t alter the screen sizes for the Magic V6, it has given a 1000-nit boost to the display brightness, featuring 6000 nits to offer clearer visuals under sunlight. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features 2600 nits maximum brightness, and that is unlikely to change much this year.
3. Crease
Samsung is still struggling with the “crease problems” for its foldables. A user purchasing a folding phone often looks for the crease due to concerns about durability.
However, Honor Magic V6 has got your back with a crease-free internal display panel. Note that every foldable display has a crease, and so does the Magic V6. Though the fact is – it’s very close to being just invisible! The tech giant revealed that it has reduced crease by 44% in Magic V6.

4. Battery
Magic V6 is not only the slimmest foldable yet, but also the only foldable with the thinnest and biggest battery capacity to date! The global model is bringing a 6660mAh battery, while the Chinese variant will use a 7150mAh cell pack.
The battery has been the weakest point for Samsung. That’s not us saying, but its device that are still relying on a 5000mAh pack, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 4400mAh battery capacity. With Magic V6, Honor showed how far it can go in terms of boosting the battery power.

5. Durability
Honor Magic V6 is the world’s first foldable to feature IP68 and IP69 ratings, steps ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 that relies on IP48 water and dust resistance.
Of course, Samsung is now up with its new-gen Galaxy Z Fold. Though if you want a foldable with better displays, battery, AI features, and slim-profile, then the Honor Magic V6 is the right choice.
