Huawei has released new data that suggests that more than 90% of its existing devices are now compatible with HarmonyOS 6 version 6.0.1 (API 21). This is a big statement given the fact that the company didn’t provide any further data, including device ratios such as smartphones, tablets, and others.
According to the data, the API is the most dominant version (91.5%), indicating that the vast majority of devices have been upgraded to the newer HarmonyOS version. On the other hand, the HarmonyOS 5.0.5 (API 17) comes second 4.41%, covering a small portion of devices.
Huawei released HarmonyOS 5 as the native operating system, breaking roots from the previous Android app-supported HarmonyOS version. Though, majority of the devices run HarmonyOS but some of the previously oldest Huawei devices are deprecated due to the incompatibility with the native HarmonyOS API.
Still, a vast number of devices are adopting HarmonyOS 6’s latest API, which shows a big advancement in platform compatibility.
To be mentioned, the percent references for developers to define the API versions that their application needs to target for broader compatibility. This doesn’t mean that all of the devices are upgraded to this version, at least not a the time of this announcement.
The company has recently released HarmonyOS developer beta version 6.0.2 (22) beta 1 with user experience improvements for new features. However, its device support rate is quite low.
