2026 World Health Expo is taking place in Dubai from February 9 to 13 and Huawei is attending this event, shedding light on how its significant smartwatches will soon be able to detect the early signs of diabetes risk through a prominent feature.
According to a report, Huawei has announced a useful tool for its smartwatches that will enable them to spot early diabetes risk factors in users before any major problem.
Huawei said that it is currently focusing on the ‘blood sugar management’ feature for its wearables. It will be a non-invasive technology that will enhance the awareness of diabetes risks among people.
The company revealed that the new blood-sugar management feature is based on the PPG technology. PPG refers to Photoplethysmography. The OEM will use advanced sensors in its smartwatches to identify alterations in PPG signals.
As a result, the sensors and technology together will generate proactive wellness alerts, particularly towards diabetes. Describing more about the feature, Huawei said:
“This function is designed to raise awareness of possible blood sugar-related trends and encourage users to seek early medical consultation, rather than deliver medical diagnoses.”
Earlier, a leak suggested that Huawei is prepping a special blood sugar smartwatch for 2026. Though it seems the company is planning to launch a particular feature in this aspect.

Huawei further revealed its recent research on diabetes-related solutions. The company has spent days in mechanism like neuropathy and the high-end microvascular arteriosclerosis.
Following these researches, the company made a new wellness feature to detect blood-sugar fluctuations by just analyzing PPG data via wearable usage. One can use this feature by wearing the watch consistently for three to fourteen days.
After sufficient data, the dedicated Diabetes Risk app will show the risk and wellness ranging from Low, Medium, to High. Users under medium to high range can take a professional medical test for further details.
The company has confirmed to push this feature to compatible watches in the coming months through an OTA update. The feature is already available in the Watch GT 6 Pro and will soon reach more models in the time ahead.
