One of the biggest advances in Huawei devices over the years has been water resistance, and here is another phone that proves this statement by being underwater for 13 hours straight, as well as coming out in flying colors. Let’s check the story!
A Huawei smartphone user visited a nearby river on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. During the visit, her husband accidentally fell into the river while riding a tricycle.
While the man wasn’t seriously injured, his smartphone, worth 10000 yuan, fell into the river. Since the device is extremely expensive, the user’s wife contacted experts and the company to help retrieve it from the water at the earliest.
The user’s wife said that she spent around 1100 yuan to get the phone back. She added that if it were a cheap phone, she wouldn’t have minded. But it was the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.
After retrieving the Huawei phone from underwater 13 hours later, the device appeared to be working fine. It was not only usable but had shown 80% battery level.

Of course, being a Huawei phone, such performance is to be expected. A similar incident happened with the standard Mate 80 handset, which had been in the water for 51 hours.
Mate 80 RS Ultimate supports IP68 and IP69 ratings with 6-meter water resistance. These capabilities enhance the phone’s potential against risk factors like water and dust. It uses dual Kunlun glasses + titanium basalt body to avoid scratches.
Speaking of the battery, the flagship smartphone packs a 6000mAh cell with 100W SuperFast wired, 80W wireless, 18W wired reverse, and wireless reverse charging.
