Huawei Mate 80 Pro is sparking heated discussions these days as it seems to be launching globally on February 26. A press conference release has mentioned that the company can finally unveil the long-awaited Mate phones in the overseas market after three years of absolute silence.
But will this really gonna happen? Let’s find out!
The Chinese phone maker put a halt to the Mate phone launches in the global market in 2023. Before that, the company was relying on 4G chips from Qualcomm and didn’t face any problem releasing the performance-based Mate 50 series worldwide.
In 2023, though, Huawei rekindled the Kirin 5G chips in the top flagship Mate 60 phones. Since the company was restricted from using high-end processors and GMS, it hadn’t debuted the 2023 Mate models globally.
Another reason was the supply chain. The US ban immensely affected the production capacity of Huawei, especially for global markets. Despite being a major win, Mate 60 didn’t make its way overseas due to the limited supply of Kirin 5G chips.
While a similar treatment was expected for the Mate 70 handsets, Huawei silently unveiled them in certain markets like Russia, with, of course, some limited features.

The device is even getting EMUI 15 updates monthly and has the same design, battery capacity, and other prime specifications, including the top-edge Kirin 5G processor.
But this time, Huawei has upgraded the Mate smartphones to a whole new level. From the appearance to battery and chipset, the company has made significant changes in the Mate 80 series, and the results are visible in its booming sales performance.
Since Huawei has made many moves for the first time in 2025, like introducing a “Pro Max” variant and officially announcing new Kirin 5G chips, it may also take the step of launching the Mate 80 and Pro models in the global market on February 26.
Moreover, Huawei has already unveiled the Mate 70 series last year. Thus, we can expect a grand announcement for the Mate 80 models globally as well.
Note that Huawei hasn’t confirmed or announced the news officially yet. Hence, we have to hold out breathe till 26th February to know the truth. Till then, you can keep your excitement at peak for the new Runner smartwatch.
