Xiaomi 17 series is rumored to soon get a new “Max” variant with a major chipset upgrade. The company could dump its all-time favorite mobile SoC partner – Snapdragon for the Dimensity chip, probably to deliver a more robust performance.
After a leak by DigitalChatStation, netizens noted that Xiaomi began working on a new smartphone named “Xiaomi 17 Max” with an incredible chipset upgrade.
The particular leak described that a new Xiaomi phone is in the making with a 200MP 1/1.4-inch HPx main camera sensor, a 50MP 1/1.95-inch ultrawide-angle lens, and a 50MP IMX8xx sensor for the periscope part.
Looking into the leak, the new device will bring major enhancements in the camera and performance departments. The Max variant will likely go official by the second quarter of this year, unveiling minimal yet notable internal parameters.

However, one of the big changes that this model could introduce is a new chip. Instead of sticking to Qualcomm just like other Xiaomi 17 siblings, the company could jump to the MediaTek Dimensity processor for the all-new Max handset.
This gets clear when a netizen asked DigitalChatStation if the new Xiaomi phone will depend on the same Snapdragon processor as other 17th series models.
In response, the tipster said that the smartphone will be a “large screen dimensity” product. Xiaomi may use this “chip-shift” trick to minimize the cost of device making and implement a massive display size and new technologies instead.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed any details on this matter yet. Though it would be interesting to see what this new MAX variant brings to the Xiaomi 17 family.
