Xiaomi 18 Ultra will be the next-gen top-tier model in the Xiaomi family, and it seems the smartphone will restore a specific imaging upgrade that appeared missing in the previous-generation handset – a quad-camera system on the back.
SmartPikachu has now pointed out the early details of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra alongside a major camera upgrade. Starting with the release timeline, the device will likely debut in December, just like its predecessor, with certain changes in the launch date.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra series launched on 25 December – on the occasion of Christmas, while it has been open for sales on 27. In February, the devices stepped into the global market. Perhaps Xiaomi may follow the same timeline for upcoming flagships.
Another major change can be the camera part. The tipster mentioned that the Xiaomi 18 Ultra will feature a quad-camera setup on the rear side with new imaging features.

Now that’s really good news for all those Xiaomi fans who were expecting four cameras in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra series but were disappointed with the triple sensors on the back.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra debuted with a quad-camera array, including a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide-angle lens, a 50MP floating telephoto, and a 200MP periscope telephoto. All these lenses are coupled with top Leica imaging capabilities.
However, the company took an odd approach with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and equipped only three lenses – a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide-angle, and a 200MP telephoto camera with 3.2x to 4.3x continuous zoom.
It seems Xiaomi is working on restoring the quad-camera setup with the upcoming Ultra flagship. After 1 year of drop, what new changes this shift brings on board will be known later.
