Xiaomi has launched special camera features with the latest Ultra models and one of these is the Leica Moment, which is now seemingly inspiring more phone brands to make some bold changes in the products’ imaging setup + technologies.
Leica Moment is typically a suite of new camera features in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and its Leica Edition. Both the Chinese OEM and its iconic imaging partner, Leica, created these capabilities jointly to take mobile photography to the next level.
Even more surprisingly, some phone brands are probably inspired by the Leica Moment feature. The news on this matter is coming right from a Weibo tipster.
SmartPikachu noted that many Ultra phones coming later this year will use AI filters and the actual visual effect for images, just like the new Leica Moment tool.
While the tipster has mainly tagged the Vivo X300 Ultra in the leak, the term “brands” hints that tech giants like Huawei, Honor, and Apple may also follow suit. And there is a possibility of seeing this news become a reality in the future.
Many phone makers are now trying to reshape their software capabilities to support the camera specs. Huawei and Honor are the perfect examples in this case. But it seems the new Leica feature will push these brands to add more creativity to the imaging capabilities and controls.

The new Leica Moment is more like a retro version of the Leica M9 and M3 quality. It will debut as Leitzphone in the global market with new camera surprises.
Interestingly, the Leica Moment feature has two different and amazing image styles. One of these is based on the M9 CCD look, while the other is an M3 replica:
- A simulation of the legendary Leica M9 CCD look
- A black-and-white style that hypes the Leica M3 paired with the MONOPAN 50 film.
Eventually, the feature brings rich tonal colors, a soft look, organic details, and optical texture to the images instead of simply applying a layer of filter.
