Looks like Xiaomi is planning a global expansion of its in-house phone chip – XRING. Alongside the self-developed mobile processor, the Chinese OEM is preparing a major AI surprise for its global customers to enhance their experience in every aspect.
CNBC reported that Xiaomi President, Lu Weibing, has underlined one of the biggest plans of the company – global expansion of the XRING chip to stretch its growth.
XRING 01 debuted last year as a 3nm processor, eliminating the need for Snapdragon and Dimensity chipsets. Now the company is preparing the second-generation XRING chip and will launch it probably by the first half of this year.
“This is our first chip product. Going forward, we should most likely release a yearly upgrade. It will debut in a device that will be launched this year in China and will eventually feature in the phones the company sells overseas.”
An earlier report suggested that Xiaomi has big things in the pipeline for this year. The plans included a smartphone with a self-developed chip + OS + AI capabilities.
Speaking about the new in-house chip + OS + AI smartphone, Lu stated that the company will take this move for the first time. It will launch first in China markets, but ultimately, the company will introduce it to global consumers.
But that’s not it. Apart from the in-house chip, Xiaomi is also working on the global expansion of its AI Assistant – Xiao AI. While this tech feature was confined to the home ground to date, the company is planning to release it in overseas markets.
For this move, the company will partner with Google, using its Gemini for its international AI assistant model. It will use this AI tech for both phones and smart cars.
