5A signal indicator is coming to all Huawei smartphones

Huawei is working on a major overhaul for the status bar, bringing a 5A signal indicator to the majority of its smartphones running the HarmonyOS 6 operating system.

It is revealed that the HarmonyOS 6.0.0.115 software update will enable the 5A network indicator on older Huawei smartphones, which no longer shows a “G” signal in the network. However, the update is not yet released, and users will have to wait for this OTA rollout.

Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director, Chairman of the Product Investment Committee, and Chairman of the Consumer Business Group, announced that the Mate 80 Series officially supports 5A speed. This lineup is the first to come with pre-installed HarmonyOS 6 operating system out of the box.

It’s expected that the signal is not a visual addition; instead, it’s a real network upgrade, which provides faster network speeds and lower latency, an indication of the end of Huawei’s non-G era.

With the launch of the Mate 80 series, Huawei released HarmonyOS 6 to many devices, bringing new features on board. More of the devices also began testing the software through the beta program.

It’s likely that the company will push this new 5A network indicator to Huawei smartphones once the majority of the devices receive stable HarmonyOS 6.
