Huawei is working on the next-gen wide screen foldable smartphone with major upgrades, though it may not be named Pura X2. A new piece of info suggests that alongside the internal specifications, the company may alter the upcoming device’s name.
FixedFocus says the 2026 wide-screen foldable phone won’t be named – the Huawei Pura X2. Although the tipster didn’t reveal the new moniker of the handset.
It won’t be the first time that Huawei has changed the “expected name” of its devices. Last year, when everyone was anticipating the Pocket 3 flip phone, the company launched the first-ever Pura clamshell with a super interesting form factor.
Similarly, the world’s first Mate XT tri-fold iteration was expected to debut as the XT 2 model in the market. But the official name of the flagship is Huawei Mate XTs.
Thus, a name change for the Huawei Pura X2 won’t be a big surprise. But the question is – what will be the new term for the 2nd-generation wide-screen foldable phone?
According to @FixedFocus, the new wide-screen fold phone iteration can be named “Pura Fold”. However, it’s just a speculation at present. Some netizens commented that the 2nd-gen device could launch as the Pura S – just like the Pocket S.
Further, the tipster suggested that the display panels of the new foldable will be slightly bigger than the previous-generation model. It will adopt a small tablet-like appearance, offering a more intuitive visual experience to users in many aspects.
On the greener side, the company will upgrade the new-gen clamshell with many cutting-edge tech capabilities, making it a tough competitor for Apple’s first iPhone foldable.
What exactly Huawei will name the 2026 Pura flip-flop phone is currently unclear. Although we may grab some revelations on this matter by early April. Stay tuned.
