Looks like Huawei and other Chinese companies have started hoarding memory chips before it leads to a major price increase. Perhaps the tech giants are making efforts to secure one of the most important components ahead of an impending crisis.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation noted that Huawei stockpiled a large amount of memory chips well before the price increase. This may offer a solid foundation for the price stability of its devices.
Memory chips are gaining attention in the market due to a heavy surge in their prices. DRAM is seeing a price hike of over 50% month-over-month, and the NAND has exceeded over 90% already!
No doubt, this move is severely affecting the Chinese smartphone market. It is impacting the production cost of smartphones. As a result, several phone vendors raised their phone prices to ease the pressure to some extent.
However, things are quite different when we enter the Huawei world in this critical scenario. It hasn’t followed other brands yet in increasing the price of its phones or announcing any such plans for future launches.

The best example in this case is the standard Mate 80 that offers more features over its predecessor and is cheaper when it comes to price! The newly launched Enjoy 90 series also remains in an appropriate cost range despite having bigger shifts.
Perhaps the company has enough memory chips in its inventory for a considerable period. While every other tech vendor is increasing prices of its devices, Huawei has shown a unique strategy – increasing features + reducing prices. This strategic move makes Huawei a champion in the challenging scenario.
How well this strategy will continue to work for Huawei in the future is worth looking forward to. Maybe to make things go smoothly, the firm is stockpiling more memory chips.
