Huawei Pura 90 vanilla version might be equipped with an older Kirin 5G mobile phone chipset. Over the past few weeks, a lot of rumors surfaced online, but the latest input coming from a Weibo source hints at a big shift in the approaching smartphones.
BaldPanda on Weibo found that the standard Huawei Pura 90 could sport the Kirin 9010S chipset. Notably, the company used the same SoC for the Pura 80 handset.
The tipster further mentioned that the Pura 90 vanilla model can be seen as a modified Nova smartphone. Perhaps this is why it may stick to an old but capable chip.
On the other hand, the high-end variants of the Pura 90 family – Pro and Pro Max will feature Kirin 9030S. This time, the company seemingly aims to introduce new mobile processors with every new lineup coming to the consumer market.

Kirin 9010S has two large cores at 2.50GHz, six medium cores at 2.05GHz, and four small cores at 1.50GHz. It is mainly said to be an upgraded version of Kirin 9010 5G.
While the Kirin 9010S has debuted with the Pura 80 and Mate 70 Air, the 9030S version appears to be a new and optimized chipset that can be slightly inferior to the standard 9030 series, but offers better performance over the Kirin 9020 processors.
However, the current chip leak doesn’t align with a previous input that seemed accurate for the Pura 90 smartphones. It is thus unclear what the Chinese tech giant is actually planning for the new flagship in terms of performance.
