Amid new phones and tablets, Huawei is also seemingly working on a new-gen triple foldable smartphone called Mate XT 2 with an impressive battery and a stronger hinge upgrade. A new leak has revealed when and what this tri-fold can bring to consumers.
Weibo tipster @SuperDimensional noted that the Huawei Mate XT 2 is in the making with a bigger battery this time. The new triple foldable could show a sharp jump in the cell capacity over the previous-generation model.
For comparison, the Huawei Mate XTs has a 5600mAh cell pack. But the upcoming tri-fold smartphone can use a 6000mAh or even larger battery for more reliability.
The device may eventually make its debut in October. The company is making headlines to get back on its original launch schedule track. But, we could still witness a delay at certain points.
On the other hand, the leak suggests that Huawei is evaluating an improved hinge technology for the Mate XT 2 that will not only offer durability to the folding mechanism but also noticeably reduce creases on the display panel.
Huawei used a Tiangong Hinge System last year for the Mate XTs. The tech giant called it a masterpiece of its craftsmanship. It brings a dual-fold (inner and outer) and dual-track linkage that eases the opening + closing movement and offers more control.
This year, the company may further enhance the dual-hinge capability for the Mate XT 2 triple-fold, elevating the overall durability and folding setup of the device.

Another highlight in the Mate XT 2 leak is the chip! The tipster speculated that the new-generation triple-folding device can feature a Kirin 9050 Pro SoC, offering a dynamic boost to performance compared to previous tri-foldable handsets.
Kirin 9050 Pro has been in the rumors to welcome on-device AI features. It has already surfaced in leaks. Although it is more likely to debut with the regular Mate models and then reach other phones.
For the imaging setup, the Mate XT 2 can follow Mate X7 and may sport a quad-camera system on the back, including a 50MP ultra-high-dynamic lens, a 40MP ultrawide-angle shooter, a 50MP telephoto, and a second-gen multispectral sensor.
