After Samsung, Honor has started preparing new privacy screen technology for its next flagship. The company has already pushed the software-level feature to its top-end smartphones. Although it is now seemingly working on a hardware-level solution.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation reported that Honor is working on a new hardware-level privacy screen technology. Just like Samsung’s solution, the tech feature will prevent other people from peeping into your phone’s display.
The tipster said Samsung will begin supplying its advanced Privacy Screen hardware components to the outside world by the end of 2028. Meanwhile, some phone makers will try to adopt such a solution for their creations as it’s in high demand.
Samsung’s Privacy Display is a built-in hardware and software feature. It is mainly introduced to avoid “shoulder surfing” by restricting your screen’s viewing angle.
Privacy Display further makes the screen appear dimmed or obscured to any other person viewing it from the side, while remaining clear when viewed straight on.

While there are many privacy screen protectors on the market, Samsung has integrated Privacy Display directly into the hardware screen component and OS. It controls how pixels emit light and limits peripheral visibility without any external filter.
Looks like Honor is also working on a similar solution at the hardware level. The company has recently released an AI-powered anti-peeping security feature for its smartphones with the MagicOS 10 software upgrade.
Now it could bring a hardware-based solution, probably with the Magic 9 series. Note that Honor is currently testing such a technology, and it’s unclear whether it will introduce the new solution with the upcoming smartphone lineup.
Hence, let’s wait for more revelations on this matter before jumping to any conclusions.
