FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is planning new measures from this month under which any product running on Huawei HiSilicon chips will be added to the ban list. The regulation will directly impact Chinese devices in the global market.
According to the new rule, the FCC is banning all kinds of electronic devices in the US equipped with parts supplied or produced by sanctioned Chinese firms.
US-based FCC is currently calling out the authority members to vote for new measures and suggest whether they should come into action by this month.
The commission is imposing a ban primarily on finished communication devices. Such products are fully assembled, like phones, routers, or modems, and ready to sell in the market.
Huawei HiSilicon chips also come under the new FCC ban rule. Per the info, any third-party retailer or brand selling products powered by Kirn chips in the United States will have those products banned.
The commission said:
“… the new rule aims to cut off the entry of electronic devices that pose a security risk into the United States.”
Currently, these regulations are under consideration. But if approved, brands have to ensure a stricter review of products before selling them in the US, as the commission doesn’t want any devices running HiSilicon chips to enter the United States market.
The new measures are facing some challenges at present. Modern products as well as electronic devices contain numerous components, and it’s difficult to completely trace all the products before selling them in the market.
FCC has been trying to block China and Huawei’s growth in many ways. The commission has been planning a ban expansion for certain Chinese firms. Now, it is up to more measures.
