Huawei Founder and CEO – Ren Zhengfei, reveals how the US ban is a tough blow on the company, but not for China in terms of techs. The chief said the country has a good chance to contribute to global progress as well as the technological segment.
US sanctioned Huawei in 2019 and restricted it from using advanced techs packed with American-based components, though China was spared this curse.
Due to the sanction chains, the company struggled for over 5 years in the AI and chipset field. But finally, things changed in 2023 when it reintroduced 5G chipsets.
While talking about the sanctions and challenges, Ren stated that the US has targeted Chinese companies like Huawei, ZTE, and more. But it didn’t close the doors for the country. It can still opt for the best in this scenario.
He added that many young people from China who go to the US, take root and sprout, and participate in creating new technological civilizations will help the country eventually to progress in the tech field.
Giving an example, Ren mentioned that Google’s founders were Russian. But today, the Android system that is running in several smartphones is being used all over the world! Even China has benefited from it.
Ren Zhengfei said:
“The United States only prohibits Huawei from using products containing American elements; this does not mean that China or the world is prohibited from using them. Therefore, it is beneficial to global progress for talented individuals from all over the world to create a technological civilization in the US.”
Huawei is constantly putting in efforts to enhance its pace in the tech world and improve its AI + chipset technology, helping China to reduce its reliance on the US-based products and give a tough spot to Nvidia on its home turf.
