This Huawei smartwatch feature is the answer to Honor’s worries

Honor has a very strange belief about smartwatch – no wearable can support an accurate body temperature feature, but this conviction doesn’t apply to Huawei. The GT watch maker already has a better answer to Honor’s concerns on this matter.

One of the Honor executives recently revealed an upcoming wearable, which will launch in the coming months. He further asked what kind of features users would like to see in the new smartwatch that can offer an interactive experience.

Following the post, a tipster asked if the smartwatch would support the body temperature feature. In response, the chief gave quite an unsatisfying answer to the tipster:

“To answer this question, currently, smartwatches in the industry cannot accurately detect body temperature. […] It’s believed that this industry challenge will be solved in the near future.”

According to the chief, due to variations in body temperature, smartwatches are unable to accurately detect body temperature. Moreover, factors like ambient temperature, wearing tightness, and activity levels can lead to wrong readings.

But what if we say that Huawei has an answer to Honor’s worries with its very special smartwatch feature? Many flagship wearables like the Watch 5, Watch D2, Ultimate Design models, and more support skin temperature monitoring.

It further tracks changes during the day and after exercise, but it works best only on healthy adults over 18. One has to snug the watch on their wrist to get accurate readings. Users can measure it manually or set it to monitor continuously via the Health app.

Skin Temperature vs Body Temperature

Notably, it’s a skin temperature feature and measures the heat of the body’s outermost surface, which mostly fluctuates on the environment and blood flow basis.

On the flip side, the core body temperature is the stable internal temperature of the body’s organs and remains around 37°C. It is the main indicator of overall body temperature.

Despite the difference, Huawei at least has a useful feature that can be used for smartwatches – it’s the perfect answer for Honor’s worries.
