Huawei has done some significant work with the standard Nova 15 phone, boosting its overall performance by 62% than the previous-gen model. It has become possible with the new chipset, which showed up on the consumer surface for the first time!
Nova 15 equips the Kirin 8020 5G processor. The company used it first with the Nova 14 Ultra handset. With the latest implementation, it seems Huawei is leveling up its chip game for smartphones.
During the Nova 15 Series launch event, Huawei revealed that the Kirin 8020 chip brings major improvements for the vanilla version over the Nova 14 handset.
It enhances the CPU multi-core performance by 52% for Nova 15 over the previous-gen smartphone. Meanwhile, the GPU performance has reached 26%, and the NPU operation efficiency is enhanced by 128% compared to the predecessor.
Notably, the Standard Nova 14 features the Kirin 8000 chip. It has one large Cortex-A77 core of 2.4GHz, three Cortex-A77 cores of 2.189GHz, as well as four Cortex-A55 cores of 1.84GHz. The chip also has a Mali-G610 GPU.
On the other hand, the Kirin 8020 chip comes with a 2.29GHz large core, three 2.05GHz cores, and four 1.3GHz cores. It uses Maleoon 920 2cu GPU at 840MHz.
