Honor WIN series has debuted as a flagship gaming lineup in the market, though its pricing details sparked a buzz about whether it will get 4-year major MagicOS updates or less than that. Well, the company has now answered the dilemma.
During the WIN Series launch, the company revealed many details about the new gaming phones. It even announced the AnTuTu scores of the standard model.
Something that was missing from the stage was the number of major OS MagicOS software updates for the Honor WIN lineup. Flagships like the Magic 8 phones get 7 years of OS and security updates, offering the best user experience.
Meanwhile, the digital series like Honor 500 will receive 6 years of Android updates. And now the company has finally confirmed this segment for WIN models:
- Honor WIN RT Upgrades include 3 main MagicOS versions
- Honor WIN Upgrades include 4 main MagicOS versions
An industry insider revealed that the company didn’t reveal this info at the same event, as this segment requires both time and research. Besides, the software evaluation for these models wasn’t finished at that time.
“Why wasn’t it said at the press conference? Because it was still being evaluated at the time, it was indeed not finished yet… R&D students and resource bandwidth have not yet made a 100% commitment. They can’t always write small words. They secretly say that upgrading xx times is the R&D goal.”
In case you are planning to purchase the Honor WIN series but were hesitant due to concerns about software upgrades, then don’t worry, you can still go for it and enjoy good enough software compatibility.
