Midea, a Home Appliance maker, has launched an M5 Air Conditioner with surprising technologies, including HarmonyOS operating system support and a Huawei HiSilicon chip.
Midea Air Horizon M5 AC has a wide wave engine air duct, supporting 180-degree 3D circulation airflow and 9m long-distance air delivery. It uses 10 shell-shaped air-expanding louvers, supporting natural wind at around 150 degrees.
This AC supports Coanda airflow, providing top-mounted airflow for cooling and warmth. The Midea M5 air conditioner supports the open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem with cross-device connection.
Users can connect the AC with smart home devices and cars, along with voice control and central screen systems. This will help users to start the room’s pre-conditioning before arrival from the connected vehicle.

On the other hand, the AC has HiSilicon AI inverter chip for AI smart air control, claiming a 700% increase in computing power and fast response time. The AC’s indoor unit features four new upgrades, including an increased 22mm evaporator length, the air duct length is also increased by 73mm, the fan diameter is 7.6mm bigger than the last generation, and the copper pipe length is also improved by 2010mm.
It has a Level 1 energy efficiency rating and brings a one-button power-saving feature, with up to 25% electricity efficiency over the previous version.
The AC previously received HarmonyOS certification with model number KFR-35G/M5, which also confirms that the open source HarmonyOS version 5.0.3.
