Honor Magic 8 Pro Air will launch next week, and the latest leak about this unreleased device has showcased its unboxing experience in advance.
The phone comes with a white retail box with Honor Magic 8 Pro Air branding. The unboxing video (via Iceuniverse) shows a purple variant of the device. It spotlights the rear camera island with triple lenses, including a wide, ultra-wide, and a telephoto camera. The LED flash is sitting right beneath.
The rest of the rear panel is plain and closely follows the design language of the iPhone Air, but with subtle optimizations. The phone’s thickness was compared with two coins, which summarizes its thin frame, measuring at 6.1mm.
The top side has larger speakers and a secondary microphone. The bottom side has a primary mic, a SIM card tray, a USB-C port, and speaker grills. The left side remains plane, but the right side has three buttons: one is a volume adjustment key, the second is a power button, and the third is a gesture control slider, which is used to control camera zoom. However, the company is calling it an “AI button”.
The phone ships with MagicOS 10 software experience, and the hands-on experience confirms that the low-display bezels provide a full-view experience despite a selfie-hole punch design.
Other details of the phone affirm that it takes power from the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, coupled with 16GB of RAM. The display has FHD+ resolution, and the battery capacity is 5500mAh, which is quite commendable despite the slim design. To be mentioned, the phone will ship with an 80W super-fast charger within the box for faster charging sessions.
The battery experience easily surpasses the current generation of iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The unboxing video revealed that the Magic 8 Pro Air is equipped with an Honor E2 power efficiency chipset.
Besides, the unboxed phone has 512GB of storage, and there is also a 1TB version, but that remains unconfirmed for the time being. Honor will officially reveal this new thin smartphone at an event on January 19 in China.
