Xiaomi is planning a new smartphone in 2026, uisng in-house chip, AI, and an operating system. Looks like the company is quite inspired by one of the top brands – Huawei, in this case, and aims to ditch foreign products completely this year!
SmartPikachu noted that Xiaomi is aiming for a new smartphone based on its own operating system, AI, and chip technology. Note that all these key components will belong to Xiaomi rather than any other foreign firm or US tech capabilities.
And the move seems quite similar to that of Huawei. Yes, the Mate phone maker is the first brand to step into the consumer market with its self-made Kirin 5G chips, ultimate HarmonyOS NEXT operating system, and unique AI features with Celia!
Now Xiaomi has some Huawei-inspired ideas for its 2026 smartphones. It already has self-developed chips – XRING, which is different from the Snapdragon processors.

While HyperOS 3.0 is based on the latest Android versions, the company might soon drop this support in the time ahead. Speaking of AI, Xiaomi has HyperAI for its devices that integrates with HyperOS and serves as its brain.
It brings several on-device intelligent features for every segment, such as image editing, system optimization, security, and more. Thus, users get faster speeds while performing a task, better privacy, and reduced power consumption.
What exactly Xiaomi is cooking up for the upcoming products is currently unclear. Though it aims to bring its in-house chip, operating system, and AI together on a single device. And this might happen in 2026.
