Huawei Mate 80 series phones have been in the shortage situation for a while, but it looks like things have finally begun improving. A new piece of information suggests that the company is ramping up the production of the latest Kirin 5G chips.
Weibo tipster @SuperDimensional noted that Huawei is increasing the production capacity of Kirin 9030 and 9030 Pro 5G chips. This new move will eventually help in improving the shortage situation of Huawei Mate 80 models.
The tipster added that three Huawei offline stores have restocked certain Mate 80 devices that were not available to purchase for a long time. These models are:
- Mate 80 Pro 12GB + 512GB Gold variant
- Mate 80 Pro 12GB + 512GB Black variant
- Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design Purple variant + other colors
- Mate 80 Pro Max
Notably, some of these variants, like the high-end Mate 80 phones, might see an additional 500 yuan price increase. Although this price will reduce gradually in the upcoming time, as the production capacity reaches a good mark.

Every year, Huawei ensures a sufficient stock of the Mate and Pura series before their launches. Although their strong demand in the market leads to a shortage of models in stock, resulting in the expansion of shipment time for months.
And this year was no exception to this case. Mate 80 Pro Max and the RS Ultimate Design faced short supply problems right after the first week of their sales.
Meanwhile, the standard Huawei Mate 80 continued to ship as usual due to its high quantity and sufficient Kirin 9020 5G chip volume. This is the main reason why the vanilla version accounts for the highest share in the flagship lineup’s shipment.
