Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS 7 at HDC this week, and while the headline-grabbing Agentic AI upgrades received the most attention alongside the Celia assistant, the anti-fraud features were also a crucial part of this event that you may have missed.
Some are brand-new additions, while others are tweaks to anti-fraud features in Huawei HarmonyOS 7. But together, they ensure that your data and privacy remain protected from any type of scam or fraudulent activities.
Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business Unit Chairman, briefly described these features and said to wait for the official release. Perhaps in between, the company will optimize the new additions to a greater extent. He also mentioned:
“To prevent fraud, buy a HarmonyOS phone.”

Six Anti-Fraud Features
1. Prevention of script-based scams: Script-based scams refer to those based on SMS or voice messages, asking for personal details, one-time passwords, or some other data that can help them steal your info.
2. Detection of overseas transfers: The device’s system will probably monitor cross-border transactions and other data transfers to prevent any fraud or international telecommunication tracking.
3. Remote Call Cancellation: HarmonyOS 7 can protect you from scam calls, where scammers inform you that a package, service, or subscription is being cancelled. They further pressure you to dial certain numbers to cancel the product, leading to a phone hack.
4. QR Code Scanning: HarmonyOS 7 can detect malicious QR codes that can trick you into either downloading malware to your device or leading to unauthorized payments.
5. Webpage content detection: Huawei has designed HarmonyOS 7 in such a way that it recognizes fake websites or pop-ups that claim to detect viruses and can install malware or malicious apps on your handset.
6. App face-changing risk identification: HarmonyOS 7 can also prevent fake face scans and deepfake data that scammers use to bypass bank security or any other access.
