LexisNexis has shared a new report, showing its analysis on the global 5G patent market in the first few weeks of 2026, and interesting that Qualcomm + Huawei are leading the race due to their ultimate tech creations and patent applications.
The LexisNexis firm is one of the leading global providers of legal, regulatory, business information, analytics, and risk management tools. Recently, the company shared the report on the global 5G patent analysis for 2026.
According to the report, Huawei and Qualcomm are wrestling for the lead position in the global 5G patent market for 2026. While the Chinese OEM has the most 5G patents, the US chip maker offers the most valuable technology!
Huawei has ranked first in the LexisNexis patent ranking. The company has the highest number of active and granted 5G declared patent series. It is also ahead of even prominent European and US players in the number of 3GPP contributions.
LexisNexis report further states:
“Huawei, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Ericsson continued to lead the global ranking of 5G patent powerhouses as assessed by granted and active 5G patent family volume, portfolio impact, and standard contributions.”
On the other hand, Qualcomm has appeared in the second spot for its valuable technology patents. LexisNexis also revealed the top ten 5G patent leaders at the start of the new year!
These top tech brands received the first ten positions based on certain criteria. For instance, the company evaluated them for active 5G patent, value-adjusted portfolio indicators, and sustained participation in 3GPP standards development.
