Xiaomi 17 Ultra has now appeared on the DXOMARK ranking, defeating one of the best camera beasts – the Honor Magic 8 Pro. The Ultra handset has ranked sixth with 166 points on the global camera phone listing and has topped several flagships.
DXOMARK recently tested the camera performance of the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone. And the device has really performed well with its super strong imaging tech.
The flagship has a 50MP (f/1.7, 23mm dual pixel PDAF, OIS) primary snapper, a 50MP ultrawide-angle shooter (f/2.2), and a 200MP telephoto with 3.2 – 4.3x zoom.
While it didn’t defeat the top-most Huawei Pura 80 Ultra phone in this ranking, it surpassed models like the Magic 8 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The camera report reveals three major “Pros” of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. It has delivered strong photo performance from the main camera with high details + natural color rendering across most lighting conditions.
Besides, the device offers good video performance, showcasing efficient brightness in both outdoor and indoor conditions. It also has high-quality in low-light photography with good detail retention.

It maintains a good balance between texture and noise except in low light video, contains an excellent tele zoom lens, and natural looking bokeh mode with good subject isolation.
Though there are some cons of this phone:
- Capturing group photos can be challenging, with people in the foreground occasionally appearing out of focus.
- Noticeable transitions while zooming in on the video.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra has scored 170 points in the photo, 171 points for the main camera, 175 points for Bokeh, 160 points for the ultrawide shooter, and 169 points for the zoom lens.
Coming to the video part, the device scored 157 points. The main camera video shooting achieved 164 points, the ultrawide sensor scored 144 points, while the telephoto has 132 points.
DXOMARK says:
“Xiaomi 17 Ultra delivers an excellent performance in the camera tests. In many test areas, it is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, 15 Ultra, and is getting close to the very best flagship devices on the market, however, without quite matching them.”
