Huawei Nova 16 series launched today with four models, and the company revealed an interesting surprise for the entire sub-flagship lineup – Satellite Features. Simply put, all handsets, including the z-tagged device, support satellite communication.
During the Nova 16 series launch event, the Huawei Consumer Business Unit CEO, He Gang, announced that all models have an easter egg: flagship-level satellite features.
Flagship-grade satellite features here mean that all Nova 16 series models, alongside the Nova 16z, will enable users to access seamless satellite connectivity.
The list of features for all the Nova 16 series models includes BeiDou Satellite SMS and carrier Satellite SMS. Meanwhile, the Ultra version has the satellite calling function.
What’s so special about this surprise? Well, it’s the first time that all the Nova models are supporting satellite features. Earlier, Huawei used to bring such an upgrade for the high-end Nova phones like the Pro and Ultra variants.

Though this time, even the entry-level Nova 16z will also feature satellite communication. Perhaps the company has started working on its recently announced goal!
Following the launch of the Enjoy 90 series, the Chairman of the Huawei Consumer Business – Richard Yu mentioned that soon all types of devices, along with budget-friendly phones and smartwatches, will gradually get satellite communication support.
After the cost-effective phones, we may soon witness top-end wearables to feature satellite communication. It would be worth seeing if the company makes this happen by the end of this year or we have to wait till 2027.
