Honor 600 series has reached China and the company has confirmed that all the models of the new-gen digital lineup support the infrared feature and can enable users to manage their smart home devices efficiently, without any interruptions.
Infrared feature, also known as IR Blaster, is a tiny transmitter that resides in the device. It emits invisible light signals to communicate with and control electronic appliances like TVs, ACs, and set-top boxes. It’s a kind of universal remote control.
The best part of this feature is that it doesn’t require any pairing or active internet connection and can start working immediately through a simple line-of-sight signal.
Early inputs suggested that future smartphones containing bigger batteries will skip the “infrared sensor” to maintain the internal space for other major hardware parts.
Following such reports, netizens asked the company if the Honor 600 series supports the infrared feature or not. In response, the R&D Engineer – Cao Gong said:
“All Honor 600 models support the infrared feature, and it is located in the rear camera module area.”

He added that users can control the AC by simply holding their phone upright, unlike before when they had to specifically point the top of the phone at the air conditioner. They can now easily adjust the AC from anywhere – quite convenient.
The chief shared these details while reposting a user’s experience with the Honor 600 Super Edition and its infrared function. Here’s what he said:
“Unexpectedly, Honor has achieved a technology that Apple couldn’t implement!
The Honor 600 series supports infrared remote control. Today, when I was turning on the AC, I held the top of my phone directly against it, but it didn’t respond for a while. I was about to curse the phone for being broken when I realized I was wrong. The Honor 600 Super Edition has an infrared remote control in the camera module, so you don’t need to hold the top of your phone directly against the AC – which is more convenient and saves time.”
