Huawei is the first brand to introduce the concept of wide foldable in the smartphone industry, and it looks like two more brands will follow suit this year – Apple and Xiaomi. A new leak reveals the number of phone makers to bring a broad folding device by the end of 2026.
As noted by FixedFocus, Xiaomi seems to have a wide foldable phone in the pipeline. The details of this device are unclear. However, it is expected to debut this year.
iPhone Ultra is also in the news headlines for making way to the launch stage in September. Just like the Pura X Max, Apple will also adopt a wide-screen design for its first folding creation.
The tipster stated that only Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi will have a wide fold phone in 2026. Meanwhile, other brands could use the “wait and see” approach in this matter.

Samsung has also been rumored to launch a wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 device as the successor of the Z Fold 7. But the tipster didn’t count the brand. It might be that the tipster is just shedding light on the brands related to the Chinese foldable market.
Leak further reports that while other manufacturers also have ideas for a wide fold handset, they don’t yet have finalized plans for the launch time and are currently allocating resources to build one.
Wide foldable phones have flipped the smartphone market to a great extent. After the launch of the Pura X Max, consumer demand significantly shifted to the broad folding design rather than the regular vertical or book-type appearance.
As a result, more brands are planning to adopt the new fold look. But Apple and Xiaomi are currently the only brands that are somewhat confirmed to bring a wide foldable by the end of this year.
