Huawei was the first to unveil a wide-folding smartphone – Pura X Max, and Samsung is next in line to reveal its device in this segment with Galaxy Z Fold 8 wide. Recently, rumors about the upcoming Unpacked event have intensified and are expected to go official next month.
Samsung released the triple-folding device as the Galaxy Z Fold tri-fold. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 wide will be simple. The wide phone could launch as the “Galaxy Z Fold 8” and the taller version will be released as the Z Fold 8 Ultra.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch folding screen and a 5.4-inch cover screen. These two screen specs are almost identical to the Pura X Max, except for the foldable panel slightly increased in the Huawei.

Another interesting display feature of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could be its creaseless view, which could provide a better experience than the Pura X Max. The phone may be only 4.5 millimeters thin, making it the thinnest and lightest foldable display among Samsung devices.
The phone is powered by a fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It will have two rear cameras, including a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The camera setup is quite like the Galaxy S25 Edge, which includes a 200MP main sensor, but this wide device may not get the same treatment.
Its sheer width will allow the Fold 8 to use a 5,000mAh battery for extended power backup, which is decent.
The Pura X Max has introduced the wide-folding phone trend ot the industry, which will attract new entrants in the competition. This is due to the wide screen ratio, which provides a different viewing experience than the traditional side-folding smartphones.
Samsung is yet to announce the official release date for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 wide.
