HarmonyOS PC sales are beyond expectations over past year: Huawei

Huawei Device Tablet and PC Product Line President Zhu Dongdong said at the HDC 2026 event that the HarmonyOS PC lineup is just doing great in the market, and its sales have exceeded expectations. And the special credit goes to MateBook Fold.

During the HarmonyOS Forum on the 3rd day of HDC26, the Huawei chief revealed that HarmonyOS PC sales have exceeded expectations in the market for over a year.

The OEM brought in self-developed PCs last year in May, completing its HarmonyOS family. From phones to even computers, every device is powered by HarmonyOS.

Zhu mentioned that the major contributor to this achievement is the iconic Huawei MateBook Fold. It is the world’s first 18-inch folding laptop and China’s largest PC.

Huawei executive further reported that HarmonyOS PCs had a solid start in the market. While the device with a traditional form factor obtained a 12% market share in the thin + light PC segment (above 8000 yuan), the Fold PC scored 70% share.

Moreover, the sales of the standard HarmonyOS notebooks are also no less of a surprise to the company. It almost caught up with the shipment levels of x86 products.

He added that even after a year, it seems the PC competitors in the market haven’t caught up yet, and they will probably continue to remain behind the Huawei MateBook devices powered by HarmonyOS for another year. Zhu stated:

“This product (MateBook Fold) is extremely difficult to develop, and it cannot be made without an investment of several hundred million yuan.”
