Huawei has now confirmed that the Ascend 950DT will debut in August this year, while coming into use by the fourth quarter. Up to this point, we were only aware of the release timeline. But the company suggested the actual moment to deploy the respective chip in the sampling phase.
During the Huawei Cloud 2026 INSPIRE Creators Event, the Vice President of the company – Chen Lin, revealed that the Ascend 950DT AI chip will launch on its Cloud ecosystem in August.
Meanwhile, it may be released officially by the fourth quarter of this year, as scheduled. Other chips may continue to make their way as announced by the company.
Chen added (via – SemiconductorsX) that the new-gen Ascend 950DT will bring “greatly improved” computing power over the previous versions. From video memory bandwidth to Internet bandwidth, it will showcase enhanced performance and efficiency.
Ascend 950DT AI semiconductor will feature a more friendly programming. Thus, the model tuning will be simpler, and smart driving scenarios will be easier to use.
The Vice President stated:
“The new generation of Ascend chips – Ascend 950DT will be officially launched on Huawei Cloud in August. Compared with the previous generation chip, the 950DT will greatly improve vector computing power, video memory bandwidth, and natively support low-precision formats like FP8.”
Ascend 950PR made its commercial debut in March this year. Huawei has shown the processor alongside the Atlas 350 AI cluster at the China Partner Event.
Later, it used the same chipset for the DeepSeek V4 Series and announced to unveil three new AI semiconductors in the next three years with major changes.
The new announcement hints that Huawei is on the verge of taking huge leaps in the Chinese AI chip industry with its innovations and tech solutions.
