Huawei introduces GigaUplink tech for smartphone AI evolution

Huawei today unveiled a new tech solution for smartphone AI services at the MWC 2026 Shanghai event, called – GigaUplink. The company hosted the Mobile AI Industry Summit, where it revealed how uplink plays a significant role in mobile networks.

The Chinese OEM stated that uplink is the key for mobile networks to drive industry innovation and business growth in the Mobile AI era. Hence, it has now introduced the Huawei GigaUplink technological solution for smartphone AI evolution.

GigaUplink comprises upgraded multi-antenna technology, smart spectrum, device-network, and network collaboration algorithms. All these components help the tech to provide enhanced uplink capabilities for telecom operators.

Many other industry analysts also talked in favor of the GigaUplink, saying that it is the key to building network capabilities for Mobile AI.

Since Mobile AI is reshaping the network traffic structure from downlink-centric to a more balanced uplink + downlink model, uplink enhancement, latency assurance, and device network cloud have become core points for network evolution.

AI participants also agreed that capabilities like advanced uplink and high reliability are important to foster Mobile AI experiences and service innovation.

Zeng Chuang, the President of Huawei Wireless FDD Product Line, said:

“Huawei’s GigaUplink solution integrates new multi-antenna technology upgrades and three intelligent collaboration algorithms to provide a fivefold increase in uplink capacity along with a 10-dB better coverage enhancement.”

The company has combined the 8T8R and Massive MIMO series products with the GigaUplink solution, supporting space-division multiplexing and multiple-antenna reception via native beamforming technology.

Besides, the company is improving the uplink user experience with three major collaboration algorithms:

  • Spectrum collaboration: consists of spectrum pooling, SUL, and other technologies to decouple uplink and downlink spectrum, which increases 5G demand and facilitates spectrum transfer to 5G.
  • Device-network collaboration: aligns optimal parameters with device capabilities and network conditions, enabling UEs to fully unleash their uplink performance.
  • Network collaboration: It enables joint signal reception and smart interference suppression across sites and cells to improve user experiences.

Huawei will further cooperate with industry partners to develop GigaUplink networks for Mobile AI through joint standards, ecosystem, and business development. This will promote the iterative evolution of GigaUplink traits to deliver better Mobile AI service experiences and drive the mobile industry into the next golden decade.
