Huawei Mate 90 series is coming in the second half of this year, and rumors indicate that it will carry a similar “camera ring” design on the back as its predecessors. For those loving such a big lens module on phones, this news can serve your interest.
As noted by Weibo tipster @FixedFocus, the Huawei Mate 90 series could adopt a “similar in size” camera ring to the rear panel as the previous-gen Mate 80 flagship.
The tipster adds that the circular design concept for the 2026 Mate models will not be as compact as the Mate 70 series. Instead, the company will stick to huge circles.
Mate 80 smartphones (Standard, Pro, and PRO MAX) debuted with a giant dual-ring layout on the back. The first ring was the camera framework itself, while the second one was an additional line-layered layout below the lens module, forming an 8.
Huawei Mate 30 was officially introduced with a circular lens bump on the back. Since then, the company continued to attach a round (small or big) camera frame, housing three to four enhanced imaging sensors on its Mate handsets.

But things turned for the first time last year with the Mate 80 lineup that has two rings arranged vertically on the rear, reflecting the infinity sign or the number “8”.
While it’s unclear if Huawei will continue the “dual ring” layout with the new Mate phones, at least, the camera framework is expected to remain of the same “huge” size.
The tipster hasn’t disclosed any other design details for the Mate 90 series. If the cam-look remains the same as the previous-generation models, then other design changes can include new colors, durable materials, and certain tweaks.
