Huawei is seemingly testing a new type of screen solution for the Mate 90 top flagship series, which can boost the display durability. This particular test is related to the screen resistance and may be regarding the next-generation Kunlun Glass tech.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu reported that the top 5 Chinese brands are now testing high-end screen resistance. Besides, he tags the Huawei Mate 90 in the new leak.
Based on the information, it seems the Huawei Mate 90 series will use a top-grade screen film on the panel to increase the durability to a greater extent. Whether the company will bring this solution to all phones or limit it to high-end variants is unclear.
For comparison, the Mate 80 Pro Max uses a second-generation Kunlun Glass that enhances the overall impact resistance of the device by 20 times over its predecessors. It is shatter-resistant, reliable, and durable.

On the other hand, the company has integrated a special screen tech solution into the Pura 90 Pro Max that eliminates the requirement of any additional tempered glass.
All thanks to the anti-reflective screen that not only reduces the reflection effects but also increases the drop resistance by 25 times and scratch resistance by 16 times.
Now the Chinese tech giant has started working on its second 2026 flagship smartphone lineup. It is already testing many prominent upgrades for the top-end series, and one of these is probably a new screen resistance solution.
Huawei Mate 90 series will already bring a powerful chipset this year based on the LogicFolding technology. In addition, there would be new changes in the imaging setup.
What other enhancements the company will add to the Mate 90 handsets is uncertain at present. Though there’s a lot of time in the respective flagship’s launch. Till then, we will hit more relevant details.
