Huawei MatePad devices have developed strong momentum in China’s Q1 2026 tablet market and achieved the first spot in the shipment ranking. The company has also recorded the highest annual growth among all other top rivals like Apple.
Omdia shared a report on the Chinese tablet shipment market for Q1 2026, and Huawei is standing at the peak of this segment. The company has sold 2.6 million units in the first three months of this year – thanks to last year’s iconic creations.
Devices like the MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet, MatePad Mini, and some other budget-conscious models focused on enhancing the user experience with new form factors, high-end software capabilities, and amazing tools for day-to-day tasks.
The tech maker captured 31% of the Chinese tablet market share, up from 26% made last year. Its annual growth increased by 11%, contributing to the overall revenue.
Apple owns 2.2 million units in shipment with 26% market share. Despite the MatePad’s dominance in the home ground, the company is seeing a hike in its growth for a few months. Though how long this progress will continue is worth looking at.
Xiaomi is in third place with 2.2 million shipments and 26% market share. It is, though, seeing a decline of 42% in its yearly growth. Besides the Redmi parent, HONOR, at fourth is also facing a 20% slash in its annual progress. Lenovo is in the fifth spot with 0.5 million units in sales, 6% market share, and 7% progress.

“While this is a challenging period for PC and tablet OEMs, it also presents opportunities for those with strong shipment volumes, efficient business models, and healthy cash flows. These points enhance competitiveness during a prolonged downturn and also enable vendors to invest strategically in future AI opportunities as the market evolves and monetization pathways become clearer.”
