MWC26 Shanghai is live, and Huawei revealed how mobile communication is now entering a new AI era, along with several benefits for both operators and customers. It will also unlock many business growth possibilities for global telecom firms.
On June 24, Huawei Circular Chairman David Wang delivered a speech at the MWC26 event in Shanghai, saying that the mobile communication industry is taking steps towards a new stage led by AI.
Huawei chief stated that telcos can generate revenue through AI tokens in the mobile communication industry. This move will take companies beyond the data traffic-based revenue models, while grabbing growth opportunities via new AI models.
Wang mentioned that mobile communication development reached a new scale in the past couple of years. It has exceeded the limits of performance and efficiency with every generation.
Applications and services are emerging in the industry, and the scope of communication is constantly expanding. On the other hand, telecoms have turned network tech solutions into business value with the help of AI opportunities.
Wang added that AI is rewriting the definition of mobile networks, and it may not take time to introduce a more advanced structure supporting AI apps + services.
“… mobile communication has developed by exceeding the limits of frequency efficiency and performance with each generation. AI is fundamentally changing the requirements of networks, and in the future, a new network structure that can support AI apps and services beyond simply providing connectivity is needed.”
Huawei believes that telecom firms should prepare an AI-internalized mobile network with three core components: communication, computing, and AI technology.
Doing so will help communication networks to evolve from a data traffic-based structure to an ecosystem that looks after real-time interaction and stable connectivity.
AI will turn the computing network’s role from a simple delivery role to a complete infrastructure that can share resources efficiently across the network. It will also support higher performance and an open ecosystem.
