ROBOT PHONE is born for mobile video shooting: Honor

Honor has once again shared interesting details about its ultimate – ROBOT PHONE, related to its video shooting capabilities this time.  The company says that the robotic camera phone is born to eliminate all the bottlenecks of mobile videography.

The imaging team of Honor – AiMAGE published a new video where one of the firm’s executives stated that the ROBOT PHONE is born to enhance mobile video shooting.

Unlike regular smartphones that continue to adopt the same imaging structure, the ROBOT PHONE uses a motorized three-axis gimbal setup on the device’s top.

Since the main camera is coupled with a folding mechanism, the entire phone gets more space for enhanced hardware upgrades including the latest imaging solutions.

Camera Setup

According to the details, the entire camera system in the ROBOT PHONE has a 200MP imaging sensor. Being attached to a gimbal, the lens rotates front and back, capturing every little detail in the surroundings or as per your needs/scenarios.

For video shooting, Honor shook hands with ARRI, which will not only boost the photography experience but also advance video recording through tools like AI subject tracking, smart shooting assistance, auto-camera movements, and video editing.

Coming to durability, the Chinese tech giant says that even though the all-new ROBOT PHONE is comparable to its latest flagship phones in terms of drop resistance, it still requires some potential regarding water resistance.

Adding more, the company says that it will enhance the durability aspects with the future-generation models. Of course, the development of this iconic creation is more challenging than anyone could have thought of.

Parts like customized small motors, adjusting the balance of the pan/tilt, solving the flip torque + stability. The company has made at least five major design changes before reaching the final decision. Honor says:

“The point of being friendly to photography novices is: AI automatically tracks subjects, fully automatic mirror operation, and many preset templates. Without having to study the parameters yourself or practice using the mirror, ordinary people can also take very smooth cinematic pictures.”
