Huawei is reportedly preparing a major battery upgrade for the Pura X2 widescreen foldable, and this time, it’s a real surprise! Unlike the previous-gen model, which relies on a 4610mAh pack, the upcoming flip-flop phone may bring a 6000mAh cell.
Battery is becoming a new “buzzword” in the Huawei world. The company began exploring a new 7000mAh cell for its mid-range and flagship phones, launching this year.
Now, SuperDimensional is back with major “battery upgrade” news for the Huawei Pura X2 foldable. Earlier, the same tipster suggested that the upcoming clamshell product can use a bigger battery than its predecessor, but not a 6000mAh pack.
As of now, though, the tipster said that Huawei is testing bigger batteries for its 2026 phones, where the Pura X2 could feature a 6000mAh cell. If true, that would be a major upgrade in the company’s vertical folding smartphone lineup.

Pura X – the first-gen Pura fold debuted with a 4610mAh battery coupled with 66W wired, 40W wireless, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging. That’s a significant upgrade over the company’s first flip-flop model – P50 Pocket with a 4000mAh cell.
Later that year, Huawei introduced Pura 80 series and the Mate 80 lineup with a noteworthy hike in the battery capacity. With this in mind, the Pura X2 was expected to go official with a 5000mAh cell pack this year.
But it seems we may see more interesting surprises on this matter. Apart from the second widescreen foldable, the tipster revealed that the entry-level models like the Enjoy series may stick with 8000mAh in the future, while the flagship handsets will debut with a 7000mAh pack.
The tipster further mentioned that Huawei will launch a 7000mAh battery in the second half of this year. This means the Mate 90 models will likely introduce the new cell upgrade.
