Huawei nears 2020 revenue record with 5G phones comeback

April is here, and the first big news of this month is Huawei 2025 revenue report and its comeback with 5G phones. And it looks like the company is slowly yet gradually inching closer to its 2020 sales revenue record – the highest annual earnings to date.

Huawei has recently published its 2025 annual revenue report, driven by the comeback of Kirin 5G phones in the market and a significant increase in new tech research.

The overall revenue collection is 880.9 billion yuan ($126 billion) in 2025 – a small leap of 2.2 percent from the previous year’s revenue, which is 862 billion yuan.

This leads to 8.6% profit in 2025 revenue. Here, the Huawei Consumer Business has made 344.5 billion yuan (1.6% up from 2024). The R&D segment owns 21.8% of the total revenue with 192.3 billion yuan.

Even though the progress is slower, it shows that Huawei is now nearing the 2020 revenue mark of 891 billion yuan. Meng Wanzhou, the Rotating Chairwoman at Huawei, described the advancements of the consumer business by saying:

“Our consumer business worked to overcome formidable challenges. It is now moving forward into a future that is full of uncertainty.”

During the launch of the Huawei Enjoy 90 series, the company said twice that it has made a full comeback in the smartphone market. While it’s unclear what Huawei intended to convey through this announcement, it highlighted the company’s efforts to revive Kirin chipsets from flagship to entry-level smartphones.

Richard Yu, the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business Group Unit, also mentioned that the Enjoy 90 phones with the Kirin 8000 chipsets and HarmonyOS 6.0 software system are proof of Huawei’s full return in the consumer market.

Over the years, Huawei has faced many challenges to reclaim its position in the smartphone market. After a true comeback, the company now aims to expand its ambitions on a global scale.

It has even taken the first step regarding this goal by launching the Kirin 9030 Pro chip-powered Mate 80 Pro globally. The flagship is also seeing booming sales in China.

Perhaps Huawei’s annual revenue may potentially increase further by the end of 2026.
