LOFIC is an advanced sensor structure that is responsible for managing excess light at the pixel level instead of dispersing it into adjacent pixels, causing overexposure.
It stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor that aims to preserve highlight detail in bright areas and at the same time, captures the shadow information.
Perhaps the upcoming LOFIC HDR 3.0 will further enhance this imaging mechanism by pairing up with a rumored dual 200MP camera setup. One can expect masterpiece shots during sunsets, sunrises, or with mixed indoor-outdoor scenarios.
