Huawei Nova 16 can use slightly bigger display than Nova 15

After the launch of the Nova 15 phones last year, Huawei began preparing its next sub-flagship lineup – the Nova 16 series, and the new-generation models are expected to feature slightly bigger display panels than their predecessors.

Several rumors and leaks of the Huawei Nova 16 series are emerging on the internet at full pace. The lineup may launch in the second quarter of this year with three models. But this time, the OEM can say goodbye to the ULTRA variant.

In the latest edition, a tipster revealed that apart from the model change, the Huawei Nova 16 series will also bring bigger display panels over the Nova 15 handsets.

The standard Nova 16 is said to feature a 6.78-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Huawei will further secure this screen with Kunlun Glass technology to boost the drop and scratch resistance properties of the device.

Notably, the tipster didn’t mention whether these specs belong to all Nova 16 models or only the vanilla version. But based on the leak, it appears to be the base variant.

For comparison, the Huawei Nova 15 has a 6.7-inch OLED flat screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and ultra-narrow bezels. On the other hand, the Nova 15 Pro and Ultra models featured a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display technology.

Apart from the screen size, the tipster stated that the Nova 16 base will continue to use a 50MP front camera, a 50MP RYYB main snapper, and a 3x periscope zoom.

Whether Huawei will upgrade the imaging sensors of the Nova 16 phones or use minimal changes is currently unclear. In terms of the chipset, the standard variant could debut with a new Kirin 8 series version – 8030 5G. Let’s wait to see what else the company will seed in the new lineup.
