Huawei expanding Mate 80 offline call feature to more devices

Huawei Mate 80 series smartphones debuted with a special feature named “offline call” or the “Meetime wireless communication”, and the Chinese tech giant is now bringing this capability to more eligible devices for a better experience.

Offline Calls feature is capable of working even under the Airplane mode. The specific mode disables all wireless communications, including MeeTime calls and SMS services, to avoid interference when on the plane.

Although last year, the company introduced a new feature called offline calls with the Mate 80 series, which enables users to send messages or make phone calls even on an aeroplane, without facing any kind of interruptions.

Users can receive messages from nearby offline contacts, reply to them, and have a maximum chat + call distance of up to 7km (based on extreme model testing).

In the current landscape, Huawei is expanding the Mate 80 series’ offline call feature to more devices. While phones like Pura 80 and high-end Nova 14 variants gained support in December 2025, it is now reaching the Mate 70 Air handset.
