Huawei amazed everyone last year with a 16:10 wide-screen foldable and the company is planning a similar surprise this year with a regular non-folding phone. A leak reveals the OEM is working on a broad device alongside its design details.
DigitalChatStation on Weibo noted that Huawei is seemingly testing a new, wide-screen form for a next-generation phone with a 16:9 or 16:10 display aspect ratio.
The tipster added that the alleged smartphone will feature a wide, flat display panel with a borderless visual appearance. It means the device will likely give a zero-bezel feel around the screen, increasing the overall screen-to-body ratio for a sleeker look.
At the same time, the tipster shared an image showing the Pura X Max and a new smartphone with a wide screen. Looking closely at the second device in the picture, it reveals a single punch design at the top of the screen with four curvy corners.
Even though the leak doesn’t disclose the launch timeline of this new wide-screen handset, some previous inputs suggested that Huawei will unveil such a phone in the fourth quarter of this year.
