Huawei Mate XT 2 tri-fold and Mate X8 are the two flagship foldable phones coming in the second half of this year, and these creations can take chip performance to a whole new level. A new piece of information drops hints on the mobile processor of these folding handsets.
DigitalChatStation reported that both the Huawei Mate X8 and the Mate XT 2 tri-fold will equip the next-generation Kirin chip, elevating the performance to a greater extent.
According to the tipster, Huawei will likely skip at least two chip generations for the upcoming foldable phones. For instance, the Mate XTs triple-folding handset equips the Kirin 9020. On the other hand, the Mate X7 features the Kirin 9030 Pro.
But their iterations launching this year might use the Kirin 9050 mobile SoC. If true, that would be three generations ahead of the 9020 processor and two generations from Mate X7’s chipset.
It further hints that the company will break its tradition of unveiling new tri-folds with a previous-gen chipset. As per the leak, the Kirin 9050 series will bring two variants: Standard and Pro, among which Mate XT 2 is expected to use the Pro version.
Whether the same chips will show up for the Mate 90 series is unclear at the moment. Early reports suggest that Huawei will develop these new chip using a dual-layer vertical arrangement that will revamp performance and efficiency for the devices.
The tipster hasn’t detailed the new-generation chipsets yet. Although we may get more revelations on this matter in the time ahead. Stay tuned.
