Honor is working on the next-gen gaming smartphones – GT 2 series and it seems the new models will feature a high-tech screen to elevate the gaming experience. The latest information also hints at fresh AI technologies for this purpose.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu points out that Honor is testing a new screen tech for the GT 2 series. This particular display panel will use an ultra-high refresh rate.
Early inputs suggested that the Chinese phone maker is working on a 165Hz screen device. Perhaps the new model could belong to the upcoming Honor GT 2 family.
But apart from the refresh rate, Honor is also altering the super frame rate rendering. It refers to the process of generating and displaying video or game frames at extremely high speeds, say 120fps, 2240fps, or even more.
As a result, the screen becomes capable of achieving ultra-smooth motion, reducing the blur effect, lowering the input lag, and enabling detailed slow-motion effects.

In the latest edition, the OEM is upgrading this segment with the use of AI technology. Artificial Intelligence uses deep learning to improve frame rates and visual quality. It smartly upscales to high-resolution, sharp images and offers high FPS gameplay.
Thus, AI integration will eventually enhance the rendering details beyond traditional rendering. It may further make ray tracing graphics feasible at high speeds.
Honor is also working on the AI-powered Phantom Engine to optimize the gaming aspect. It ensures “zero-jitter” gameplay by stabilizing frame rates and managing the device’s power for intensive games and overall efficiency.
GT 2 series could make its way to the launch stage by the end of this month. It will primarily focus on performance and gaming scenarios. Other changes to the device will show up on the ground in the coming days.
