Huawei has officially confirmed that a new Runner smartwatch is in the making and will debut soon. It has recently announced its partnership with the Swiss-Dutch global company, DSM Firmenich, for its upcoming flagship wearable creation.
With the onset of this month, Eliud Kipchoge – a Kenyan distance runner, shared a post on Weibo, suggesting that Huawei and DSM are cooking something new for consumers. Now both companies have confirmed their iconic partnership.
Eliud Kipchoge is widely considered the world’s greatest marathoner. He won all 10 marathons between 2014 and 2019. He is also a member of the professional DSM Firmenich running team and took the initiative to announce the new bond!
According to the official details, Huawei has joined forces with the global running team to accelerate the spirit of the specific sport and promote it on a larger scale.
The Chinese OEM seems a perfect match to DSM Firmenich and Eliud’s idea of seeking a globally influential partner with cutting-edge tech + vast user network.
Speaking of the new “Runner” wearable in the pipeline, it will integrate smarter training methods based on the running sport to enhance runners’ overall health.
Huawei Consumer Business Group CMO – Alex Huang said:
“By combining Huawei’s expertise in smart wearable technology with the team’s deep performance knowledge, we aim to deliver meaningful insights that benefit not only elite athletes, but runners of all levels around the world.”
Interestingly, the new partnership announcement hints at the return of the Huawei GT Runner smartwatch. Of course, Huawei will upshift the name, design, and features of the new wearable. But it is likely to adopt the same “sport watch” idea as in 2021.
The company hasn’t detailed the new smartwatch creation yet. Though it has trademarked a new moniker, “Racing Legend”, which could be related to the current announcement. Let’s wait for some more revelations on this subject.
