Apple iPhone 18 Pro photos, data leaks via Tata cyberattack

Apple will likely launch its iPhone 18 Pro series by September, though some photos and supply chain data of this flagship have leaked already following a major cyberattack. The ultimate lineup is in the spotlight ahead of its release due to a sudden hack.

Reuters has reported that the parts, suppliers list data, and prototype photos of the Apple iPhone 18 Pro series have leaked after a major cyberattack on Tata Electronics.

It is one of the biggest “supply chain data breaches” in recent years. As per the details, many sensitive files of the upcoming flagship were stolen from Apple’s Indian supplier, Tata Electronics, and posted on the Dark Web by the ransomware group.

Leaked data reveals six files mapping the components of the iPhone 18 Pro models, such as chipsets on the main circuit board, parts of the battery and cameras.

Moreover, the documents shed light on hundreds of parts of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro handsets, which Apple doesn’t disclose, not least before the official launch.

It also highlights the components on which Apple depends on several suppliers, while relying only on one or two suppliers for some iPhone parts.

Prototype photos:

Some files carried confidential watermarks alongside Apple’s internal code names linked to the iPhone 18 Pro series. Regarding photos, the files revealed the iPhone 18 Pro undergoing drop tests, a slab-shaped grey variant, a triple rear camera system, and an Apple logo on the back.

This move has appeared as a major threat to the iPhone’s development. It can also affect the partnership between Apple and Tata Electronics. The latter used to supply parts and assemble iPhones based on a contract cooperation.

According to the report, Tata is one of Apple’s most prominent suppliers in the world. The bond between Apple and Tata Electronics also reflects India’s PM Narendra Modi’s vision of building a manufacturing powerhouse in the country.

However, the latest move could affect this vision to a greater extent. How this situation will be handled is worth looking forward to!
