Honor has announced that all the Magic series phones will receive up to 7 years of Android updates in the EU and UK. The company says it commits fully to the long-term software support, enhanced security, and value for its smartphone users.
The tech giant announced the news while launching the Magic V6 foldable in Malaysia. Honor said the entire Magic series of phones will get 7 years of Android updates in the EU and UK. Magic 7 Pro can be the first to get this benefit.
While many smartphone brands are still pushing five to six years of software support for even flagship handsets, Honor promises to offer higher updates than the industry standard to ensure an effective experience for its device owners.
7 years of Android updates strategy also aligns with the EU’s Circular Economy and Ecodesign regulations that aim to reduce climate change and pollution from discarded technology products.
It is worth mentioning that Honor has confirmed the new software support plan for EU and UK users. Although the policy is different for those in Malaysia, Singapore, and other markets. Perhaps it relies on the 6-year major OS support.
With the new plan, the company hints that not only the regular phones but also the foldable models will obtain 7 years of major Android OS updates along with security rollouts and improvement patches.
Honor Magic V6 has debuted in the global market, launching last week in Malaysia and Singapore in the form of pre-orders, and is now heading towards Europe.
